Vancouver, (BC) - As the Old Time Hockey League launched, the General Managers of all the teams were announced and not surprisingly, the new GM of the Vancouver Canucks is Greg Byron. Byron has showed interest in the Vancouver market for several years now and has been a resident of BC for all of his 19 years.
Byron has had 5 years of General Manager experience prior and has always been in the running for a spot in a top quality league like the OTHL. In addition Byron is a Commissioner of the OTHL. This morning Byron talked about how nice it was to be General Manager of his hometown team.
"I am just amazed and thrilled, yet very nervous at the same time of taking the reigns of my hometown and favorite team. I will not screw this opportunity up, like Eminem said, you've got one shot and you really gotta go for it."
The OTHL is in a brief trade freeze period where teams will not be allowed to make any transactions with one another. Teams are expected to begin trading this Wednesday but nothing has been set in stone.
