The League
The OTHL was founded in 2004 when 4 fantasy hockey fanatics decided to form a league. They named it the Old Time Hockey League since all four were fans of the history of the game. Since that day, the OTHL has been a league striving to have an active group of general managers, who all love the game of hockey: both in real life and in its digital, fantasy form.

2004–2008
FHL Era
During the first four seasons, the OTHL used the FHL [fhlsim.com] simulator to play out its games. And while the league's very first season ran during the NHL lockout, it was still a success — 30 general managers all battling for the cup. Since the NHL had not installed a salary cap, due to the lockout, the OTHL used its own. When the NHL returned to the ice in 2005-06 with a cap, the OTHL adjusted and adopted the NHL's cap structure.

2008–2011
STHS Migration
After the 2007-08 season, the OTHL migrated from the FHL simulator to the STHS simulator by SimonT [sths.simont.info]. STHS offered more flexibility, and with the FHL sim no longer in development, it was a natural move. At the same time the league left its old home-grown website for the STHS Web Portal developed and shared by a third party.

2011–2015
STHS v2
After the 2010-11 season, the OTHL took its next step — upgrading to v2 of both the STHS Sim and the STHS Web Portal.

2015–Present
STHS v3 Current
In 2015 the league upgraded again, to v3 of the STHS Sim and Web Portal — the setup the OTHL still runs on today.
