After days of speculation that Sergei Gonchar was going to be traded from the Los Angeles Kings, it appears the rumours are true. According to a source, Gonchar has been traded for Robert Lang and Christoph Schubert in an attempt to add more offense to the team. it also freed up a little more room under the salary cap for the offseason when GM Derek Harland has said there will be a lot of activity.
" Anyone in my situation would just talk about there being a lot of activity but I am going to make sure of it. Lang is a star player and we needed one of those on our team. Gonchar was a valuable asset to our blueline, but that can be made up for. Schubert is an excellent 3rd pairing defender and we will have him playing some minutes. Not to mention that we will have roughly over $500,000 more to spend come free agent time. But before I go any further, I have a few other things that I am working on right now and I must get back to them. " Harland ended his statement there.
Who knows what could be in store next for this Los Angeles team.
