In a surprising move today the Los Angeles Kings have signed Marc Savard to a massive contract worth $60,000,000. It is a five year deal packed with a no trade clause. The contract will pay him $10,000,000 yearly salary with a $10,000,000 signing bonus.
" This is a good day for the Los Angeles Kings organization. We have signed the #1 center on the market today and we are ecstatic. Our whole office feels that this is the signing that is going to turn around the franchise that has been a laughingstock the last year, " Harland was pleased to say.
Marc Savard was pleased too.
" The Los Angeles Kings have been very helpful to my agent and I through this whole process. We got the numbers we were looking for and now I can help out this team anyway I can. I will be staying in LA for 5 years and I am confident I can make something special happen for this club in that time. "
Whether this is LA's final signing is waiting to be seen. Todd Bertuzzi has just turned down the club and what happens next is anyone's guess.
