Burkholder Joins the Wings

Joe Bailey

GM, Detroit Red Wings

Detroit, MI(AP)-

The Detroit Wings have found their GM for the second time in the last month. Which is scary since the month is just nine days in. Does that beat the recent Billy Donovan saga down in Orlando? I don’t really know about that one.

Detroit got it right this time as they signed a Detroit Business man to replace other prior regimes that has been in place. His name is Neil Burkholder and he promises nothing less than success. On FSN Detroit they broke the press conference and here were some high lights.

Neil Burkholder (NB): I’m very proud to become a GM of this historic franchise we know we have a little bit of work to do but who doesn’t in the OTHL. We have a solid core the problem with this is its an aging group, so guys like Noah (Welch), Joffrey (Lupul) are important with their growth in the coming years. Also the Draft is going to become more important to us we have seen other GM’s trade picks out like they are just nothing. It really has hit our prospect pool. We are very excited to have Rask, and as a whole our team really need to look towards the future.

A question was asked about Wayne Gretzky has coach and his future.

(NB): Wayne is a good coach I expect him to be back here in Detroit come next year, but your never for sure in this type of business. I will have a meeting with Wayne this upcoming week and figure out what I think will happen to his future and will we be moving on without him, or have him propel us straight to the top.
