At the 16.43 mark of the 2nd period in a game played Monday April 4th, Keith Tkachuk was assessed a minor penalty for charging and a game misconduct. Buffalo GM Jason Fisher requested a review of the play.
“What a bunch of crap” GM Dan Fillion of the Boston Bruins exclaimed “Keith had Gaborik lined up, elbow in and a ready to lay him out, but Marion, who obviously prefers ballet to hockey saw him coming at the last second and bailed out, diving and striking his head on the ice. Keith didn’t even hit him, it just looked like it with that wimp Gaborik taking a swan dive! When Keith saw the refs hand up, he immediately went to him and told him they didn’t even touch, the ref just smirked and turned his back, at this time Keith explained to the ref what he thought of his eyesight, well the ref didn’t take kindly to that and handed out the misconduct”
Now a review of the play has been asked for. “I look forward to that’ The GM explained, “it will obviously show what truly happened and will expose the character of a GM who asks for a review on a non hit.” Hell, I thought this was the OTHL, Old Time Hockey, hockey without gloves as our motto says. A non hit that a ref gives a minor penalty on and he asks for a review? RUBBISH!”
When asked about the incident Tkachuk had this to say “I think Fisher is afraid he will have to face us in the 1st round of the playoffs and is trying anything he can to help out his team, and lord knows they need it, they are running scared. A team that once fancied itself as tuff, now a bunch of wimps, hell they dress the smallest goon in the league, Steve Avery who could probably be suspended every game for some of the stuff he pulls.”
In a retaliatory move, GM Fillion has requested a review of a play late in the game. At 16.35 of the 3rd period Philippe Boucher was going back to retrieve a puck, he was about 3 feet from the boards and Chris Drury came in with a full head of steam hitting him from behind driving him into the boards. Boucher had to be helped off the ice on a stretcher and was unconscious at the time. The Bruins team delayed on calling for a review because they were under the impression the game was to be played on the ice and they took a number and filed it away. But after the whimsical request against Tkachuk they said tit for tat, and requested an investigation.
“The Drury - Boucher incident was much worse than anything Tkachuk did, so now we shall see how the league handles this, is this truly the OTHL, or are we going to change over to ballerina slippers for next season? I can tell you this, if the call for whimsical suspensions continues to come from Buffalo, I will suggest to each and every GM in the league that they send play reviews in from every game they play against such team for even the most meaningless incidents."GM Fillion proclaimed
