It was announced tonight by the Los Angeles Kings that they have hired a new General Manager. Mike McMahon originally of Melrose, Massachusetts, now residing in Boston, has officially been named the new General Manager of the Hockey Organization.
The Following is a statement from Mr. McMahon from his home in Boston, MA:
"Good Evening. First I want to thank the ownership group of the Los Angeles Kings for having the faith in me to turn their Organization into a Stanley cup contender. I am looking forward to the oppurtunity to make the Kings a model franchise in the OTHL.
I believe from looking at our roster that we have a strong core of veterans. Id like to add some youth to our roster. Id also like to address some future needs through the upcoming entry draft. I want to let the fans of Los Angeles know, that we are aware of the fact that we have to compete with the Lakers for the media attention in the town, but we believe that once we begin winning hockey games, and playing a real exciting brand of hockey, that the fans will be there, and that the media will have no choice but to pay attention to the up and coming franchise.
I want to make this short, as I have some work ahead of me. But I wanted to issue a statement to the fans of the Los Angeles Kings, thank them for the oppurtunity, and let them know that I am looking forward to a long and successful tenure as General Manager of THEIR team"
