After making a several major trades, San Jose Sharks general manager Ryan Schnell is still looking for ways to improove the team. As of now here is what the opening night roster looks like:
Sturm - Marleau - Vyborny
D. Sedin - Damphousse - Bertuzzi
Zubrus - Brown - Kozlov
Primeau - H. Sedin - Wilson
Stuart - Malik
Rathje - Suchy
Melichar - Gleason
Nabokov
Johnson
Right now, Schnell is looking to fill a hole on defense by adding another defenseman. Rumor has it that he has contacted several teams about this, and was very close top aquiring a top notch defensman before the deal fell through. Schnell has also had talks with two other teams about aquiring a scoring forward. With the Sharks payroll at around $40 million, the team can afford to add a little salary but will do so with caution. Looking forward to the next few weeks, the Sharks will open training camp where young players like Fredrik Sjostrom, Krys Kolanos, and Matt Spiller will look to earn a spot on the roster. Training camp will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
