Godzilla headed to Pittsburgh PA

Brent Bellio

GM, Pittsburgh Penguins

Kolzig on his way to the Penguins

Rumours are true, the Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired highly regarded goaltender Olaf Kolzig from the Washington Capitals in exchange for youngsters Nick Dimitrakos, Ramzi Abid, and Sebastien Caron.

"Everyone knew we were out looking for a starting goaltender. We made that pretty obvious. We made sure we got the guy we wanted. There were a few other goalies we had interest in, but once we found out that Kolzig was available, we knew he would be a perfect fit." GM Brent Bellio said during a press conference.

Kolzig, one the of the better goaltenders in the league has had a couple unlucky season the past few years.

"Washington is going through a lot of changes right now. We havent made the playoffs in the past couple years even with all the talent we've had. GM Jay Ramirez has decided to go a different route with the Capitals. He's trying to rebuild his franchise and thats understandable. I was expecting to be traded to tell you the truth." replied Kolzig when asked how he felt about the current roster situation of the Capitals.

When asked how he felt about joining the Pittsburgh Penguins Olaf Kolzig only had positive things to say "Right now I am very happy to be apart of the Penguins organization. They're a very young team who are also going through a rebuilding process but at the same time are trying to become a competitive team. I am looking forward to growing with this team."

"He's a class act player, and we need him right now to help us over the hump. With a goaltender like Kolzig, we should be able to make the playoffs this year. Thats our goal. We're hoping that Ollie can help out young Marc-Andre Fleury adjust to the NHL. We're set in goal, now and in the future." replied GM Brent Bellio when asked about his current goaltending situation.

The Penguins are said to be after a 4th line checking center and at least one top notch scoring forward. "We're getting close to the team we want to be. We're missing a few pieces of the puzzle, but we'll find em and fill em."
