Canadiens Land Guerin

Dave Pagnotta

GM, Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens held a press conference Sunday to announce that they have reached terms with unrestricted free-agent Bill Guerin on a four-year contract.

Guerin will recieve an annual salary of $4,500,000 with a signing bonus of $3,000,000. The deal does include a full no-trade clause, which Guerin said played a big part in finalizing this deal.

"Financially, I'm definitely satisfied," Guerin said at the team's press conference. "But it was the four years of security and stability that make me extremely grateful and excited to join the Montreal Canadiens."

The Canadiens were just as excited about adding the OTHL's 5th leading goal scorer to their lineup.

"We are absolutely thrilled that Billy decided to make his home in Montreal for at least the next four seasons," general manager Chad Blouin said. "He's arguably one of the greatest power forwards this league has ever seen."

When asked if we should expect any more big name signings, Blouin said, "we'll see. We've got a few offers out there for a top line center, and hopefully the opportunity to line up with Billy and Frolov will entice them just a little."
