Youppi! attacked while taking metro

Dave Pagnotta

GM, Montreal Canadiens

(MONTREAL, QC) -- As the Canadiens sit atop the Eastern Conference, there is bound to be some jealousy amongst the 29 other clubs around the league.

In a horrid turn of events earlier this morning, Canadiens mascot Youppi!, formerly of the Montreal Expos baseball team, was brutally beaten by two of his counterparts eyewitnesses claim to be Toronto's Carlton The Bear and Ottawa's Sparty.

"It was awful," said one woman, who went only as Flow. "There was blood and orange stuff all over the place."

Youppi! was on his way to take the metro (subway) when the two thugs apparently tossed him down the stairs and began to pulverize him with hockey pucks.

"It wasn't a pretty thing to see, that's for sure," said another witness. "They came out of no where and jumped the poor guy. It was as if they knew he was coming, or something? It was pretty sick."

The Canadiens would not comment on the attack, but said that Youppi! had surgery to remove a puck lodged in his left leg and is in stable condition.

This is believed to be the first mascot-on-mascot act in the OTHL since the days when Buffalo's Sabretooth beat up on Chicago's Tommy Hawk.
