Hawks Adds Two

Mathias Vaigur

GM, Chicago Blackhawks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defender/winger Wade Belak (32) and center Andreas Karlsson (32). Karlsson was signed by the Blackhawks last summer as a unrestricted free agent, but he was later involved in the Jarome Iginla trade. Since then Karlsson has played for Florida and Montreal. However, now he is back in Chicago after signing a 1 year deal with the Hawks.

"We really liked what Andreas brought to the table last season, and it was a tough decision to trade him. So we are happy to welcome him back to the team. - GM Vaigur said. The 6'4, 205 lbs Swede played 65 games last season, collecting 12 points and 46 hits.

Wade Belak joins the Blackhawks after having played for three different teams the last three seasons. He started his OTHL career in Washington where he played 27 games. Then two years ago Belak played 25 games with Atlanta. Last season he only played 15 games with Colorado. In total Wade Belak has played 67 games with 175 penalty minutes to his name.

"Wade adds a solid physical play to this team. He is a hard working player, he can play both as a forward and as a defender, and he will give you 100% in every game. He will push for a place on the roster this season." - GM Vaigur again.
