Florida Panthers pulled the trigger on there first deals of the off season. Panthers are re-tooling the team after year another dissapointing playoff run. Panthers acquired one of the most coveted dman in the league in Scott Hannan from Montreal along with role player Jamal Mayers for fan favorite Rhett Warrener, a prospect and pick.
"I've been after Hannan for a long time now. It's sad to see Rhett go but I couldnt pass up on this deal. Jamal also gives us a very solid role player for the lower lines" Panthers GM
In the 2nd deal Panthers sent Jaroslav Spacek to Detroit for Brett Clark and a pick. Clark is extermly good puck moving dman who's used to big ice time and one of the best shot blockers in the league. Look for Clark to get a chance to play along side Kyle McLaren.
UFA Target?
With Panthers trades they also shaved off some salary in efforts to get more cap space to sign Jarome Iginla or Shane Doan two players there most coveting. Panthers could also be in the market for a dman.
