OTHL -- On the ice the Ottawa Senators are playing some great hockey this season, thanks to a win tonight against Washington the Senators are 8-1-1 in there last 10 and 27-10-5 for the season. Good enough for 60 points and a lead in both the east and the league. Lead by the born again Bobby Holik and Daniel Alfredsson the Senators are looking like a sure cup favorite this season. And despite some stellar goaltendig from Martin Biron, who owns a 25-10-4 record the Senators decided to make a trade with the Buffalo Sabres today.
The Senators acquired goaltender Jean Sebastien Giguere, winger Jean Pierre Dumont and defender Sandis Ozolinsh for young winger Martin Havlat. Ottawa now have 4 seasoned veterans on there goaltender roster, lead by Biron and Giguere. Behind them the Senators have Dunham and Dafoe. Two goaltenders that are most likley on the trade block thanks to the addition of Giguere.
The Sabres on the other hand are now placing all there goaltending weight on young Ryan Miller who will get some help from Jani Hurme and Christobal Huet. Up front the Sabres are well equiped with Alexei Yashin, Marian Gaborik, Chris Drury, Brenden Morrow, Daniel Briere, Michael Nylander and now Martin Havlat. One of the most exciting top lines can now be found in Buffalo with Yashin centering Havlat and Gaborik. But the question will be, can the defense and the goaltending hold up as the Sabres continue there race for the post-season?
Tomorrow there will be an very interesting game in Buffalo as the Sabres welcome the Senators. Will Giguere start against his old team and will Havlat score on his old team?
