After falling out of the playoffs from first place in the conference, the Colorado Avalanche are back in the thick of things. Colorado is currently riding a 5 game winning streak, and now sits only 5 points behind the first place Dallas Stars.
"Our guys picked it up after the trades of Peter Bondra and Michael Nylander. We have had some great play from our 3rd and 4th lines." said coach Peter Laviolette. "Not to mention some great golatending from Razor (Andrew Raycroft) and Crackers (John Graham)."
There is still a hole in the 2nd line center position, which could become a huge concern later in the season.
"We are taking steps to rectify this. There is currently an offer on the table to young superstar Brad Boyes. We also have an abundance of young prospect centers and defencemen we would be willing to move in the right deal to aquire one." said GM Russell. We won't be looking for a UFA to be to plug the hole, or we would have kept Nylander."
