OTHL --The New Jersey Devils and the Edmonton Oilers have both played less then stellar hockey this season. The Devils are after tonights loss, 6th in the east. While the Oilers, despite a win tonight, are placed 13th in the west. So the two teams general managers decided it was time for a shakeup, so they come to an agreement to make a deal of the size big. Todd Bertuzzi and Mike Fisher will now call New Jersey there home, while Alexei Kovalev, Michael Ryder and prospect Roman Wick will find themselfs in Canada as part of the Edmonton Oilers.
Todd Bertuzzi was acquired by Edmonton not long ago, but with just 7 goals this season, the big powerforward has not gotten the job done. So insted he will get the chance to play with Scott Gomez and the other Devils. Alexei Kovalev was in a simular position with just 20 points so far this season, well below the expected level for the very talented russian. Michael Ryder has just like Bertuzzi moved around a bit this season, but has despite that found a way to score 13 goals and 30 points. And now the Oilers hope that Ryder can keep his scoring going, and that Kovalev will get a spark in his new surroundings.
