The OTHL trading deadline came and went with some minor moves being made around the league, but nothing mind boggling. The Pittsburgh Penguins failed to make any moves, although there were talks, nothing ended up happening.
"We talked to a number of GM's yesterday but we couldnt come up with anything. There were too many buyers. Too many teams in the hunt right now fighting for a spot. We received offers but non were serious enough to consider pulling the trigger. With the limited cap room we had going into this weekend we knew it was gonna be tough. Our main goal was to try and add some toughness and possibly a strong defensive defensemen but it didnt happen. Despite wanting to make some moves we did not to mess with our team chemistry, especially our top two lines." said GM Brent Bellio during a press conference
The Penguins currently have 76 pts, good enough for a share of 5th in the Eastern Conference with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Pens however have a game in hand and are coming off a big 4-2 victory against the Yotes.
"All I know is that we better make the playoffs. Whether its 8th, 7th, 6th, I dont care. Right now getting into the playoffs is all that matters. If we miss the playoffs expect big changes in the off season."
