The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have traded defenders Burke Henry and Jason Strudwick along with a 5th round draft pick in 2006 to the New York Rangers. Coming to the Blackhawks is Richard Scott, a 3rd round pick in 2005, a 6th round pick in 2005, a 8th round pick in 2005 and a 9th round pick in 2005.
"We had a log jam on defense, so we decided to trade away some of our defenders. And when we got the chance to add some draft picks as well as a depth player like Richard Scott, we decided to pull the trigger." - Mathias Vaigur, the Blackhawks general manager said. "Richard is a energy guy that isn't afraid to drop the gloves and fight if needed. He is a perfect 4th liner."
Richard Scott (26) is a 6'2, 195 lbs left-winger that will compete for the 4th line job this upcoming season. Scott has played in the AHL, the ECHL and in OHL before he joined the NY Rangers as a free agent and played 5 games for them in 2001-02 and 5 more games in 2003-04.
