The Washington Tribune reported today that the Phoenix Coyotes and Washington Capitals have agreed on a trade which is currently being reviewed by the league.
While it is not set in stone, it has been rumored that deal involves the Capitals moving forward Jeff Halpern and long time fan-favorite Brenden Witt, along with Pick number 27 in Saturdays draft to Phoenix in exchange for Winger Ladislav Nagy, defensmen Matthew Spillar, and Phoenixs' 2nd round draft pick (Pick 35)
The deal helps the Capitals add size to their squad, as well as youth. Also, Nagy will be their number 1 winger, which is another concern of the team.
All 6 feet and 5 inches of Spiller will be needed on Washingtons blueline, which lacks size. Accuired for his enormous potential, Spiller may play on the Caps blueline this season, or they may send him to the farm where he can prosper into a more all-around defensmen.
Jay Ramirez still has not given ANY clues toward what his plans are with his #3 pick, he has not showed any favortism toward Malkin, Barker or Ovechkin, the 3 prospects which are planned to go 1 2 and 3 in the draft.
Maybe accuiring Spiller will entice Ramirez to draft a forward? We will find out come draft day on Saturday!
