As the Montreal Canadiens prepare for the start of the 2006-07 OTHL regular-season, they will have a new man in charge of leading the club to the promised land.
In an announcement made earlier today, the Habs have named veteran Mike Modano as their newest Captain.
"It's an absolute honor," Modano said. "This is an unbelievably storied franchise and it's been amazing playing with them the past couple of years. To have the 'C' on my sweater as I hit the ice, it's just surreal.
Veterans Tim Taylor and Sheldon Souray will both be sporting an 'A' on their jerseys, as they have been named assistant captains.
"I'm honored," Souray, who recently signed a new four-year deal with the team, said. "We have a lot of work to do this season if we hope to capture the Stanley Cup and I'm ready and willing to help lead this club in the right direction."
