Overtime heroes reach final four

Dylan McLaughlin

GM, New Jersey Devils

It has been a dramatic two rounds for the Jersey Devils. Game 6 against the Buffalo Sabres was decided in triple overtime. Thanks to the heroics of David Legwand, the Devils won the game and advanced to meet the giant killing Canadiens.

After losing the series opener to the Habs, the Devils got the must win in game 2. It was a dog fight from start to finish and required two overtime periods to be decided. Up 3 games to 1, the Devils clinched it with a win in game 5. This time it took 3 overtime periods to finish off the cantankerous Canadiens.

The pattern of overtime wins is exciting for fans of the Devils. The team is proving they can get it done when everything is on the line. They have played well as a whole but Martin Brodeur is the glue that holds them together.

Standing in the way of the Cup finals is the Florida Panthers. They are a fast, skillful team that will be hard to contain. They are coming off a convincing win over the veteran stars in Toronto. Jersey will need their team to stay healthy and disciplined.
