STOCKHOLM, (OTHL) -- The day of the deadline started with a flurry of trades as a total of 8 trades were completed during the night/early morning. And while there were no major trades to report, the Oilers picked up goaltender Chris Mason from Philadelphia in exchange for Curtis Sanford and Tony Salmelainen. The deal also included a 3rd round pick going to Edmonton, and some future considerations regarding Mason's long term future in Edmonton.
A couple of though guys were also moved as Eric Cairns was acquired by the NY Islanders and David Koci was traded to Chicago. Koci also signed a 3 year deal with the Hawks right after the trade, and was assigned to Norfolk in the OTMHL.
