Ducks sign two more prospects

Kevin Switzer

GM, Anaheim Ducks

It has just been announced that the Anaheim Mighty Ducks have come to terms with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. It is believed that both agreed to similiar contracts that put them at, or near, the rookie cap. And, as per the OTHL CBA, both deals are for three years.

"We are happy to have Ryan and Corey signed, as they are two important pieces to the puzzle here in Anaheim, not only for the present but, more importantly, the future," commented GM Switzer. "We think Ryan can step in and be our second line center right now. Corey will likely get some playing time on our top two lines but we'll have to see how things work out. Some more seasoning in Cincinnati might be what's best for Corey's development too but we'll see how he plays with the big club first."

It appears GM Switzer has another signing on the horizon. "Today we sent another offer to Hannu Toivonen's agent and we hope to have him signed very shortly. We feel it's a fair offer and we can't wait to have him here in Anaheim. He's our goaltender of the future."

The Ducks seem to waste no time signing their prospects once they become eligible to turn pro. It's a pretty easy decision according to their GM, "We're a rebuilding organization so why not sign our prospects and get them playing professional hockey, whether here in Anaheim or on the farm in Cincinnati? We have to know what we've got when it comes to our youngsters."
