OTHL -- Dion Phaneuf, one of the highest regarded defenders in recent years, has finally arrived in the OTHL. After a quick negotiation with the Mighty Ducks, the 9th overall pick from the 2003 entry draft was signed. Phaneuf, a 6'2, 205lbs defender who draws comparisions from Scott Stevens, will be a welcome addition to the 4-10-1 Ducks.

"We are extremely happy to have Dion signed", Ducks GM Switzer noted. "We, as an organization, feel he is one of the best prospects out there and are happy to have him join our defense corps. He will be given every opportunity to prove that he belongs in the OTHL."

The slow starting ducks, have a flury of top prospects in there system, and Dion Phaneuf is only the first to be signed this season. GM Switzer promised the fans that fellow top names such as Hannu Toivonen, Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry will follow suit and be signed in the near future. "We hope to have other prospects signed this year but we'll have to see how things play out" - Switzer said.

The Ducks, who lost to Calgary, the team that drafted Phaneuf in 2003, 7-0 today on home ice. Will hope to have Phaneuf in the lineup against San Jose on Sunday. Giving him 5 days to get to know his new team.
