Ottawa, Ont.
In keeping with the changing senery in Ottawa, late Wednesday night Ottawa GM Rob Pitman fired Head Coach Brian Murray and early Friday announced they have hired Stanley Cup Winning Coach Glen Sather.
In a short news release Sather had this to say, "When I was contacted by Mr. Pitman I was excited at the oppurtunity to coach a top rate Canadian franchise, I asked for a day or two to think about the offer and Mr. Pitman said I had until training camp opens in late August to make my decission, to me that meant he was very serious at retaining my services. I looked over the Senators roster and then I looked at who they had in mind at filling the gap between the pipes and the direction the club was headed in, then I looked at the 21 players the Senators drafted and that told me this was the team I wanted to finish my hockey career with. Hopefully by next June we will be parading down Sparks Street and then onto the front lawn of the Canadian Parliment with Lord Stanleys Cup. I am very excited to be coming to Ottawa!!"
It is rumored that Brian Murray has been offered another job within the Senators Organization, that will all depend on his driving skills and whether or not he can handle the controls of a Zamboni.
