STURM GETS POTW Marco Sturm (Montreal) picked up the award as the Player Of The Week for week 17. Sturm had a solid week with the Habs with 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points in 4 played games. The Canadiens had a good week, going 2-1-2, with the wins coming against Pittsburgh (7-2) and St Louis (3-0). The only loss of the week came in the first game this past week a 6-4 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. There highlight of the week was of course the 7-2 win over the Penguins, a game where Sturm had 2 goals and 2 assists and was named the top star of the game.
Sturm was given the award ahead of teammate Richard Zednik who had 3 goals and 3 assists in 4 games, and the Oilers Ryan Smyth who had 1 goal and 3 assists in 4 played games. RAYCROFT IS THE TOP GOALIE The Philadelphia Flyers went 2-0-1 this past week with young goaltender Andrew Raycroft starting all three games. Raycroft registered a solid .901 save pct along with a 2.66 goals against average. Raycroft and the Flyers week started with a 2-2 tie against the Florida Panthers. A game where Raycroft made 30 saves. Next up for the Flyers where a game against the NY Rangers, a game that ended 4-3 to the Flyers after an overtime goal from Tony Amonte. Raycroft followed his 30 save night against Florida, with a 22 save game against the Rangers. The last game of the week for the Flyers, where a clash with the Los Angeles Kings on home ice. And the Flyers repeated there scoreline from the Rangers game, and won 4-3, but this time during regular playing time. Raycroft came up big in the game against Los Angeles, making 29 saves in the process.
