In a shocking move late last night , the Minnesota Wild pulled off a deal that just might catapult them into Cup contention. Having seen the progress of the Wild in recent weeks with the addition of Langkow and Burke many would have assumed the tinkering would have been done by now. Why ruin the chemistry that seems to be making Minnesota a respectable club. Gm Edwards said " You never are ever quite content with your team and the minute you are, you are in danger of missing out on something special. We evaluated our team and felt that although Cliff ( Ronning ) was doing a decent job, his better days were behind him and Jason Arnott , although having a decent year was not getting the type of production his line was neediing in order to be competetive in the upper etchelon of the league. Having said all this RW Alexander Daigle seemed to be alright, but we needed that playmaker who could set up Daigle more often leaving Mr. Arnott to muck things up in the corners to get those loose pucks instead of worrying about protecting his smaller team mate in Cliff. Oleg Kvasha we believe will do all those things for us, and in the process we got a lot younger and talented. Unfortunately no war is ever won without casulties ,and going to Long Island are Rw Pascal Dupuis a Minn 4th this year and maybe the biggest blow of them all, highly rated C Mikko Koivu. We feel Mikko although a major talent for the future, was expendable due to the depth at center our club has in Bouchard , Veilleux and Sullivan."Only time will tell but this reporter cannot wait until the next game.
