FOR IMMIEDIATE RELEASE

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have aquired Peter Worrell from the Buffalo Sabres along with a 3rd round draft pick in the 2005 entry draft (New Jersey draft pick). Going to Buffalo Sabres is winger Sean Avery.

Sean Avery (25) played 17 games as a Chicago Blackhawk, after being acquired in the waiver draft. Avery recorded 2 goals and 1 assist and 75 penalty minutes as a Blackhawk.

Peter Worrell (28) has played 16 games this season with 2 goals and 1 assist recorded. Worrell also had 28 penalty minutes as a Buffalo Sabre. Worrell was acquired from Colorado Avalanche earlier this season by the Sabres.

"We did not really seak to trade Sean Avery. But when Buffalo offered us a 3rd round draft pick, and Peter Worrell we decided to trade him (Avery). As a rebuilding team we aim to build trough the draft, so getting a 3rd round draft pick back, is a ideal return for us. We are also confident that Peter Worrell will be able to replace Sean Avery. So far this season, Peter has been a solid played for the Sabres. Showing that he is a capable 3rd-4th line winger." - Said Blackhawk gm Mathias Vaigur.

"I am proud to call myself a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Its a team with a long tradition and history. It is also a team known for playing a physical brand of hockey. I hope that I can bring just that to the team. This is a young team, just like Buffalo with some exciting young players. And my job, is to protect them. If anyone steps over the line, I will be there." - Peter Worrell said.

The 6'5, 245 lbs Worrell will join his team later today.
