CHICAGO, (CO) -- The Hawks hosted the Blue Jackets last night, a game that ended in a 6-3 win for the guests after a super game from Columbus goalie Fred Brathwaite. Due to this loss the Hawks are now just 4 points clear of the bottom position in the western conference. And while the Hawks where not exactly stanley cup contenders, there are now rumors of bigger changes in the lineup. The 27 year old goalie is rumored to be looking for a team that could win the cup, while the Hawks are looking to unload Thibault in a deal to get a younger goalie that would be around in net when the Hawks are cup contenders.
"We have talked to a couple of teams. But thats the way it is in the league. All good players will get attention from other teams, it dosen't mean you are going to trade the player. We have had, as we see it, one or two serious offers for Jocelyn Thibault. And we have to see if it is in the teams best interest to make a deal, or not. " - Blackhawks gm Mathias Vaigur said.
The team most interested in Jocelyn Thibault is rumored to be the Boston Bruins. According to a couple of sources, the Bruins are eager to land a qualtiy goalie that could help them in there title chase, and they see Joceyln Thibault and his relative low salary ($3.1 million) as there main target. According to one source, the Bruins have been after Thibault since the off-season but as of yet no deal as come out of the talks. The dealbreaker have so far, been the Hawks asking price for Thibault. But in the last couple of days, the interest have been renewed from the Bruins side and a deal could be close.
Thibault is 5-6-0 for the season to date. With a 2.86 gaa and a .904 save pct.
