Buffalo, NY - The Buffalo Sabres have struggled to score goals all year, and because of that, they finally made a move. And what a move it was. The Sabres were able to reach a deal with the Minnesota Wild and acquire socring RW Marion Gaborik. Also acquired is veteran defenseman Darius Kasparitis, along with his hefty contract. Going to Minnesota is arguably the Sabers most promissing defender Dimitri Kalinin and young winger JP Dumont. Minnesota also recieves the Sabres 3rd round pick in the 2005 entry draft.
"We have aquired an excelent talent, a player who has the chance to change the momentum of a game in one rush, but to get that we had to give up our most valuable defenseman and our top winger on the right side. Was it worth it, only time will tell, but we feel this was a trade we needed to make to inprove our scoring. We can now boast two powerful and dangerous lines, forcing teams to respect both, and not concentrate on only one. said Buffalo GM Jason Fisher.
It is expected that Gaborik will line up with Briere and Miro Satan, however that has not been decided. It is suggested by the talk of Fisher that they may split up Satan and Gaborik inorder to get two scoring lines going. They have the center depth to do so as well.
Assuming we are correct on Fisher
