Webb a Hawk

Mathias Vaigur

GM, Chicago Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have aquired winger Stephen Webb from the New York Islanders. The Hawks will also recive a 8th round draft pick in the 2005 entry draft. Going to the Islanders is backup goalie Steve Passmore. Passmore had dropped from 2nd to 4th on the depth chart since the emerge of Michael Leighton and Craig Anderson the last couple of seasons. Making the 31 year old Passmore expendable.

"We feelt it was not fair to Steve having him being the backup for our minor league team. He is a good backup, so we decided to move him. And when we where able to land Steve Webb we jumped at the opportunity. Steve Webb is a agitator and a real energy guy. He will go out and run anyone, at any time during a game." - Blackhawks GM Mathias Vaigur said on the trade.

The 29 year old Stephen Webb will be an option on the 4th line for the upcoming season. At 6'0 and 210 lbs Webb has the size to be a good checking line player. Webb have 321 NHL games under his belt, with 532 penalty minutes and 18 points to his name.
