Reports in Philadelphia indicates that the Philadelphia Flyers have pulled the trigger on a blockbuster trade tonight. Winger Erik Cole who was expected to be among the team leaders in most categories was seen packing his belongings and leaving the dressingroom just prior to practice starting. The winger had no comment for the press. Erik Cole arrived in Philadelphia in the off-season, he was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a deal that saw Dan Hamhuis go the other way. Cole never suited up as a Flyer in an official game.
A Philadelphia Flyers Press Agent said this : "It is correct - pending league approval - Cole is no longer a Flyer. We dont want to go into specifics in case something goes wrong, but we hope to have acquired a centerman who can spearhead our offense for the foreseeable future along with 2 other players who will also play on the pro roster. All in all its a 5 player trade. We have also submitted another trade for league approval - one we are quite confident will get accepted as it is just a minor swap of 4th line players where we pick up Jordin Tootoo."
