STOCKHOLM, (OTHL) --- Nikolai Khaibublin carried the Ducks to the conference finals against Vancouver, but in game seven he was outplayed by rookie net minder Henrik Lundqvist who played out of his mind, as he took his team to the finals. Lundqvist, who is one of the favorites to take home the Calder trophy, made 37 saves and was the big reason the Nucks are facing Boston in the finals. Anaheim out shot Vancouver 39-23, but were unable to solve Lundqvist, while Khabibulin had a very ordinary game, allowing 4 goals on 23 shots.
Alex Tanguay (8) and Brendan Morrison (3) scored one goal each whitin the first six minutes, putting the Ducks right up against the wall. However, goals from Viktor Kozlov (3) and Sean Avery (4), had the Ducks back on even terms half way into the first period. Though a late goal from Michael Peca and the Canucks, once again had the home side in the lead. And in the third period, Pierre Turgeon (2) padded the lead with another power play tally, giving the Ducks a two goal lead that lasted all the way to the final whistle. So now the Vancouver Canucks will take on the Boston Bruins in the final. A series that starts on Sunday.
