Flames Name New GM

Chad Blouin

GM, Calgary Flames

CALGARY - After much speculation, the Calgary Flames called a press convference officially announced the hiring of Chad Blouin as general manager on Sunday.

Blouin, if you recall, was first hired as the Nashville Predators general manager as the team shifted into the Old Time Hockey League. After leading the Predators to their first OTHL playoff berth, Blouin resigned after only one season.

Blouin told reporters he expects to be very busy leading up to the deadline, but warned fans that some moves may not help the Flames in the current Western Conference playoff race.

"The players and fans have invested a lot into this season, and I will do my best to respect that with any moves I make. However, I'm not here to run the team for 18 games. This is a long-term committment on both my part and that of the Flames organization, and my number one priority is to build a strong contender for the years to come."
