OTHL - - - Starting right now, no team can obtain players/prospects via player bids. A player can only be optained with the entry draft or sign as a unrestricted free agent. Any player still eligable for the OTHL draft, (ie still in juniors) must be drafted before he can sign a OTHL contract. Any player not in juniors, and not on a teams prospect list or unavailing list. Can be signed as a unrestricted free agent, and he will then be added to the teams roster.
The 15 games limit for a prospect to be created, has been reduced to 1 game. So now any prospect can be signed, once he has played 1 game in the NHL. The prospects ratings will be determind by a 3 man ratings comitee, before they are added to a teams roster.
Starting next season we will also have a UFA deadline set at December 31st. So after December 31st, no unsigned player (ie a UFA) can be signed to a OTHL contract. The "sign freeze" will be lifted on July 1st when the UFA period begins again.
PLAYER OF THE DAY: Adrian Aucoin (Calgary) - 4 assists, 3 hits and a +2 rating as the Flames crushed Anaheim.
