October 15, 2005 - In a game that was as even as can be imagined, the Dallas Stars played the Vancouver Canucks to a 1-1 tie at GM Place. Shots were even at 27 and the penalties were kept to a minimum. The game was a bit of a snooze over two periods, although the Canucks dominated the second with 11 shots.

The Stars roared back in the 3rd with 13 shots and Anson Carter's first goal of the season at 6:41. The 1-0 lead didn't last long as Brendan Shanahan scored midway through the 3rd period, his first of the season as well.

In overtime, Dallas managed 3 shots and stopped the Canucks completely, allowing only 1 shot. Neither team could score.

"I'm pleased with our performance," said Coach Nolan after the game. "But I'm still trying to find more ways to generate offense. Defensively I can't complain but the guys have to put more pucks in the net."

Gary Roberts continued to struggle somewhat. Although he registered 5 shots, he didn't score and ended the night -1. Trent Hunter as well remained in a slump, registering zero points in 23 minutes of ice time. He played a solid overall game, but Coach Nolan expects more.

"Trent Hunter is a goal scorer," said Nolan. "He has to start finding the net, and soon."

The Stars returned home immediately after the game to get ready for their game the following night against the Florida Panthers.
