Long Island -- The New York Islanders have finally made their last roster cuts. It was believed that as many as 5 spots were up for grabs until the waiver draft settled the roster, and allowed the coaching staff to make their final decisions. "While it is not a lineup that will compete for the cup, it is a lineup that will compete every night", said newly appointed captain Ales Hemsky. "We are young and hungry, and i think we will make things exciting every game, and at least give the fans something fun to watch. I'm excited to see how we can all grow together this year in hopes of making a run next year." The following are the lines that are expected to start on opening night for the Islanders....
Surovy - Cammalleri - Hemsky
Huselius - Berglund - Dupuis
Alexeev - Hilbert - Hossa
Burnett - Hamilton - Chistov
Havelid - St. Jacques
Pothier - Bombardir
Martinek - Dykhuis
Auld
Bryzgalov
With many young players getting such significant roles, it should definitely be an interesting season.
More to come....
